Journey with Woden Valley Youth Choir

This year I have taken up as Artistic Director of fantastic Woden Valley Youth Choir! It has been quite a journey so far with these outstanding young people and our Annual Concerts, titled 'Journey' are coming up this weekend - Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at Canberra College Performing Arts Centre. They feature two choirs singing many Australian works including a world premiere by Daniel Brinsmead, a work for two choirs and piano four hands with special alumnae Sally Greenaway and much more! These showcases are guaranteed to entertain -  listen to a sneak preview by following the link below and please come along if you can:

Bringing together my two performance passion projects: musically directing Strange Weather Gospel Choir and playing piano in the foray quintet, we will be firing it up to raise money for Lifeline Canberra!

All profits will be donated to Lifeline Canberra. How good is that? All welcome - bring along people who you care about, and enjoy fine singing for a good cause.

Tickets available online and please visit our Facebook or website for more info.

  • The program will include well-known SATB songs such as 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child' plus Gabriel Fauré's Piano Quintet No. 2 and living Estonian composer Arvo Pärt's Spiegel im Spiegel with violinists Anna Murakawa and Lidia Bara, violist Sarina Walter and cellist Anneliese McGee-Collett.

the foray quintet spring into September!

Hello everyone,

Just a quick message to update you about my group, the foray quintet, and our upcoming tour. We are a piano quintet (piano, violin, violin, viola, cello) who connected over our love of the lush sound that this combination can make! We are pretty new, having started performing together last year with Faure's piano quintets, and are now about to embark on our third mini-tour.

We will be in Canberra (Friday), Sydney (Saturday) and hopefully Newcastle (Sunday) on the weekend of September 25-27! The program features the works of Dmitri Shostakovich (Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57) and the rarely heard (in Australia) Croatian composer Dora Pejacevic (Piano Quintet in B Minor, Op. 40). You can find out more info and book tickets here

It would be lovely to see you out and about supporting us if you can!

Blossoms and Passions

Hello Everybody,

I would like to warmly invite you to 'Love Blossoms in May', my upcoming concert with baritone Alexander Knight this Sunday 31st May3-5pm at the Wesley Music Centre in Griffith, Canberra. Please see the flyer here for more details.

Sunday's program will include beautiful artsong by Gerald Finzi, Robert Schumann and Samuel Barber as well as solo piano works by Franz Schubert and Croatian composer Srećko Bradić. Tickets will be available at the door and there will be refreshments provided. As Alexander is heading overseas soon it might be the last concert we get to do together for a while, so it is going to be something truly special.

My ensemble the foray quintet are into our second year, and in between the busyness of classroom teaching and conducting we've recently completed our second Victorian tour.  Following this, we're planning a NSW/ACT tour of our 2015 program for September 25-27 with an evening Canberra concert on Friday 25th September. This year our performances include piano quintets by Shostakovich and the Croatian composer Dora Pejačević. More details to come!

Stay warm through the Winter everyone and I hope to see you soon,

2015 foray!

Dear reader,

I hope that you had a Happy Easter and that as the months in Australia get cooler, there is some music in your life to warm your heart.

I have been enjoying Chamber Music this year with Inventi Ensemble and the foray quintet! We are again on the road, heading off tomorrow to Melbourne for rehearsals and then a weekend of concerts. If you are in Victoria, come along to hear two well-knowns and one new to Australia piece!
