Excitement in April!

Hey there,

Just wanting to let you know about the Fauré tour next month! I've gathered a group of wonderful string players from Canberra and Melbourne to perform both of Gabriel Fauré's Piano Quintets - they are rarely-heard but very very beautiful! Rehearsals begin in two weeks time, so it's off to Melbourne for me :) We have begun the tour with three venues in and around NSW/ACT - hopefully you may be able to make it to one of them! For more info and ticketing, please check out our website.

Playing catch-ups with concerts.

Dear reader,

Apologies for my absence - sometimes life is a juggling act between playing and publicising, but it's good when I get to do both! A lot has happened since last October, but here is a bit of a snapshot:

November Trios were a lot of fun and very satisfying despite being so busy!

Before heading to Queensland for a bit of a break, I performed my final concert of the year in Canberra with baritone Alexander Knight. We were really chuffed with the end result - watch this space!

The end is nigh for 2013... Already!

Hi again, I can’t believe it’s already October!

I’ve got some really interesting concerts coming up in the next couple of months.

This coming Thursday 10th October I will be performing a lunchtime concert with pianist Claire Howard Race from 12.15-1.15 pm in the foyer of the National Library of Australia (Parkes Pl, Parkes ACT). This concert features a charming selection of piano duets by Mozart, Debussy and Rachmaninov.  Entry is by gold coin donation as part of the Canberra Musical Offering.

Next month, two Thursday evening Trio Soirées should have you dining in musical style:

The first on Thursday 7th November is the second concert of our newly formed trio featuring violinist Estelita Rae and cellist Jack Hobbs. We will perform some Brahms, Faure and Mendelssohn from 7-8 pm in the foyer of the National Library of Australia (Parkes Pl, Parkes ACT). Entry is by gold coin donation, again as part of the Canberra Musical Offering.

The second on Thursday 21st November features a slightly different combination - flautist Rachel Howie will join Jack Hobbs and I to perform a beautiful program of Martinu, Janáček, Poulenc and Weber. This concert will be at the Wesley Music Centre (National Circuit, Forrest ACT) from 7-8 pm. Entry is by donation as my final tribute to the Canberra Musical Offering.

My final concert of the year will be on Saturday 8th December as I reunite on the concert stage with Sydney baritone Alexander Knight to perform a fiery Russian program (lots of Rachmaninov!) from 3-5 pm at the Wesley Music Centre (National Circuit, Forrest ACT). Entry is by a modest fee and refreshments will be provided.

If you would like any further information please feel free to Contact Me. The 2014 concert season is already in the planning stages and I look forward to visiting some of you in Melbourne soon! Remember to sign up to my newsletter for a friendly reminder about my upcoming concerts.

Finally, I would just like to leave you with some photos from concerts taken by photographer Peter Hislop.

I hope you enjoy the rest of Spring,

Kimberley

What's next on the performance front?

Hi everyone,

Concerts in the second half of the year are in the planning stages at the moment, but I can tell you that baritone Alexander Knight, pianist Claire Howard Race, cellist Gillian Pereira and flautist Teresa Rabe are on the list of new names that are a possibility for the second half of 2013. I'm also planning some more exciting things with Jack Hobbs and Estelita Rae. I'll keep you posted!

As always, if you want to find out about upcoming events, please sign up for my Newsletter here.

Cheerio,

Performing with a smile :)

Dear readers,

Today was an exciting day - after performing at a private concert in Murrumbateman over the weekend, Jack Hobbs, Estelita Rae and I publicly performed the entirety of the fiery Trio in D Minor by Felix Mendelssohn at the Wesley Music Centre today over lunch!

People have suggested that I get paid for the number of notes that I play - in this piece I would be rich! It is a real rollercoaster of ups and downs and I think deservedly considered a masterpiece. As pianist Arnan Wiesel so aptly put it, even through the turbulence, Mendelssohn is always delivered with a smile. That we did today :)

I'm hoping to put a section of our recording up soon so keep checking!
